We are a community, charity run playgroup in the heart of Twyford, taking children from 2 years and 6 months upwards. We have been providing a wonderful early years environment for pre-school children in the local area for over 40 years.

Led by Pamela Lawrence, the staff are all qualified to level three or higher and create a nurturing environment where children flourish through play.

“Children demonstrate that they feel very happy and emotionally secure. They sing their welcome song with warmth and caring as they greet each other and staff in the morning.” OFSTED 2022

Outdoor learning really is central to our ethos – our children have an allotment in the village, two outdoor spaces including a sensory garden, as well as regular use of Hunter Park and Ballard Close Playing Field.

“Children benefit from the many opportunities to play outdoors. A high emphasis is placed on helping children learn more about the wider world and natural resources. Children develop an awareness of risk and confidence during their play outdoors”. OFSTED 2022

We believe in child led play and first hand experiences as a powerful means to drive childrens’ learning forward. We balance this with well-structured mat times and group activities so that the children have a high quality experience of the EYFS curriculum.

“A strong focus is placed on providing an inclusive learning environment for all children”. OFSTED 2022

We have very good links with schools in the local area and our children progress on to Twyford St Mary’s, Twyford School, Compton All Saints, Otterbourne C.E, and Owslebury Primary.

We also have a great relationship with Twyford Tots so you may know us already!

Whether you’re new to the group or already part of the community then please come on in and see what’s happening at Twyford Playgroup.

Please note, in order to ensure new children settle well, and to support our older childrens’ transition to school, we do not accept any new joiners under 3 in the final half term of the academic year (May half term – July).
